Not having had the opportunity to attend art school, I have been actively seeking out my arts education and trying new things. For me, drawing — and particularly life drawing — has always seemed like an aerobics class — a good general workout! — and I love the challenge of conveying personality in portraits. I also paint landscapes — both "en plein air" and in an excellent landscape group at Studio 201, and have recently begun to experiment with abstraction. But I am drawn most to "micro-landscapes" in which the focus is not the horizon but the side of the trail. When left to my own devices, I tend to work in "series" which allows me to discover and explore the complications of the task I have set myself.
